From surreal and impressionist color and form to character creation in pen and ink, I love to follow where my imagination takes me. Pure realism is very rare for me, and I love to combine realistic elements with dreamy backgrounds and unexpected elements. At its core art is not about technique, theory, or creation for profit. It’s about play, something we all know how to do from childhood. My art is made to be fun first, and to inspire curiosity in its strangeness.

Ace of Cups | Acrylic, 11x14" | Out of a broken egg a rich golden yolk drips deliciously down to the sea, its vitality nourishing whatever lies beneath it. This dreamy painting inspired by Magritte asks us to crack open our shell to reveal the elixir inside.

Sinking | Acrylic 36x36" | A woman sinks into blue water, her hair fizzing with bubbles. An emotional exploration of the peace and curiosity for the future that comes when we accept what is beyond our control.

High Priestess | Acrylic 11x14" | A surreal portrait of a silvery fish leaping from inside a woman's head. This piece echoes the weirdness in knowing ourselves, the unexpected pieces we find as we look inward that make us feel both strange and whole.

Hope is the Thing with Feathers | Acrylic, 8x8" | Inspired by the Emily Dickinson poem, this brief foray into realism depicts a songbird alone in a snowy, feathery void. It sings all the same, a reminder that we can always reach out and touch it if we need to.

Pelvic Girdle | Pen and Ink, 9x12" | Flowers bloom from a pelvic bone, a celebration of birth with a reminder of the circle of life. The bright colors evoke joy from something that could be seen as dark instead.

King Toad | Pen and Ink, 5x8" | A toad in a crown staring regally at the viewer. His shifting colors and cool expression were a fun experiment with markers.

Demons | Pen and Ink, 11x14" | A self-portrait and an experiment with black ink. I chose to visually depict the rampant emotions that can bring us all anxiety, frustration, envy, and dark thoughts. When something is recognized and played with, it has less power over us.

Cosmic Cuties | Pen and Ink, 5x8" | I love to take horror icons and make them fun! Inspired by stories of Cthulhu, these cherubic little monsters make me smile whenever I see them.

Fantasy Shroom | Pen and Ink, Watercolor, 4x6" | Character creation is one of my favorite endeavors. This sweet mushroom girl shines from within and has a curious personality, just like I do.

City Siren | Pen and Ink, 9x12" | Mythology inspires me constantly and I love unexpected comparisons. Putting the monsters of folklore into casual, modern day situations, like this Siren relaxing in a tub at the end of a long day, makes them relatable and fun.
